My Biography

Rodman Philbrick I started writing stories in sixth grade. But writing wasn't cool, like being good at sports, or being part of the in crowd, or winning fights on the playground. It wasn't a "normal" activity, and like most kids that age, I desperately wanted to be "normal." So writing became my secret life.

At the age of sixteen I completed a novel — a book–length series of stories about two characters. The narrator is a boy who admires his best friend, who is a kind of genius, and the gifted friend eventually dies a tragic death. The two buddies hang out in the basement and share a series of adventures. It was rejected. No surprise, actually, because I wasn't like the genius kid I was writing about. The book simply wasn't good enough to be published.

Eleven years after I finished that first novel, I was still unpublished. But I was determined to make my living as an author. So I kept writing. In the meantime, I worked a variety of laboring jobs — longshoreman, carpenter, boatbuilder — and started a couple of businesses that went nowhere. Finally, I found a publisher for my genre novels, which were mostly mysteries and thrillers for grown–ups.

Its Not What You Say....

It’s Not Just What You Say …And Not Even How You Say It!

The correct use of words in a conversation could make or break a sale, and or any type of relationship. Did you mean to say what you said and more importantly, what did the receiver interpret.

A man says to a woman “you are a very attractive lady” and the lady responds with “thanks, I like the way I look in your eyes”.  He noticed a handicap card hanging in the window of the car she was getting into. He then wondered did she accept or reject my complement.  Did her response mean more than just the words she uttered?

A lady says to a man “That suit looks good on you” and another lady says to the same man “You look good in that suit”.  What are they saying?  You may say they are saying the same thing but in fact they don't mean the same thing.

Daily Thoughts

Energy - Emotions

Money - Memories                                              E.M.T. Training

Time -  Thoughts

altis invested each day.  You must go through what I refer to as E.M.T.training.  That is to ask yourself “where I am going to invest my Energy, Money and Time today”?  Each day provides another opportunity to get on track towards your destiny.  You start with an Empty “Trash or Treasure” chest each morning.

It becomes a “Trash or Treasure” chest based on the memories and the thoughts you select to put in it and carry around with you all day.  You start with an Empty Chest each day.  You go to your Memories and your Thoughts chests and select some to put in your empty “Trash or Treasure” chest to carry with you throughout the day.

All through the day you pick out thoughts that will accompany and support your selected memories and put them in your empty “Trash or Treasure” chest. It will get as heavy as you want it to.  Make sure you are prepared to carry them with you all day long.  There are many memories and thoughts to choose from and the choice is yours which ones you put in your chest.  You can select "heavy" ones that bog you down all day or "light" hearted ones filled with hope and easy to carry.

Testimonial

From Gale Bray

Once again...ad nauseum, I want to thank you for such a wonderful morning!  I can't even begin to

tell you how many great compliments that I received about you!

When I got back to my office, there was such a buzz going on!  Plans were being made and agents

were busy planning strategies!  And then, my phone started to ring with 'thank-you' calls!  You really

touched a chord with so many!!

I've also had many requests for the slides that you were going to send me.  When you get a chance

to settle back in, would you forward them to me?

Again, can't thank you enough (as you may have noticed!).

Travel Safe!

Gale

P.S. Be sure to let me know when you set up your 'Dial an Alan' calls!
